St. Marys Journal Argus

TORONTO – A who’s who of Canadian baseball and Toronto Blue Jays legends will be present for the Baseball Fan Appreciation Luncheon, in support of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, set to take place on Friday, Sept. 18, here at the Albany Club.

New special guest is All-Star and World Series champion Devon White, a former Blue Jays' centrefielder.

Tickets for the event, which will include a reception, luncheon and a panel discussion with the baseball greats in attendance, are $225 each or $2,250 for a table of 10.

For personal ticket purchases, a portion of the ticket price is eligible for a tax receipt. For corporate ticket purchases, a business receipt will be issued.

Here’s a list of the baseball legends that will be on hand for the event:

Roberto Alomar, Toronto Blue Jays second baseman, Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee 2010, National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee 2011.

George Bell, Toronto Blue Jays left fielder, Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee 2013 and 1987 American League MVP.

Devon White, Toronto Blue Jays centre fielder 1991 to 1995.

Lloyd Moseby, Toronto Blue Jays centre fielder 1980 to 1989.

Duane Ward, Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher 1986 to 1995.

Blue Jays president and 2002 Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Paul Beeston, as well as Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos will also attend the event, which will be emceed by Rogers Sportsnet’s Jamie Campbell.

“We’re very thankful for the support of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Albany Club in making this luncheon happen,” said Scott Crawford, the Hall of Fame’s director of operations.

“This is an important fundraiser for us, as we work towards building our new museum. And speaking from a fan’s perspective, it’s rare to have this many Canadian baseball legends in the same room. I can’t wait to hear them talk about their careers during the panel discussion.”

Located at 91 King Street East in Toronto, the Albany Club is one of Canada’s oldest private clubs. Founded in 1882 and named after the Duke of Albany, the Club has been at its current location for more than a century.

The agenda for the September 18 event will be as follows:

12 noon – Reception

12:30 p.m. – Luncheon

1:00 p.m. – Panel discussion with baseball legends
