Dunny’s Peewees end season at Gretzky tournament

Stratford Gazette

The Dunny’s Source for Sports Peewee ‘A’ Aces finished off a great season playing in the Walter Gretzky girls hockey tournament in Brantford this past weekend.

The Aces opened up the tournament with one game on Friday against Waterloo Ravens. Final score was a 0-0 tie.

Game two on Saturday morning was a little more of a challenge playing the host team Brantford Ice Cats.

Brantford scored two goals in the first period, but the Aces could not find the net and settled for a 2-0 loss.

Aces needed a win in their third game against the Oshawa Lady Generals in order to advance in the tournament. However, the game ended in a 1-1 tie to end their season.

Goaltenders Ella Wouters and Kayley Thompson played outstanding all weekend. Both girls kept the Aces in contention, making numerous great saves.

Abby Gilchrist scored Stratford’s lone goal for the weekend in game three.
