Two nights and two wins for the Canadian Tire Major Bantams this weekend as the Warriors defeated Brantford 6-5 Sunday night at the Allman Arena.
The 99ers went ahead 5-4 with a goal with 2:09 remaining. However, Jacob McPhee tied it with 1:42 on the clock, then Reink Vanderploeg scored the winner with 1.7 seconds left in the game to give Stratford a dramatic victory.
McPhee had an exceptional night for the Tribe with two goals and an assist. Vanderploeg had two goals as well, his first one of the night was a shorthanded end-to-end rush.
Brayden Carnegie contributed a goal and an assist, with Dean Simons adding an unassisted goal. He also picked up an assist on McPhee’s opener. Hayden Shantz added an assist in the tying marker with Dean Jackson and Parker Gibbings assisting on the winner.
Stratford now sits in a three-way tie with Kitchener and London for fifth place. Their next game is Tuesday night at home at 8 p.m.
