PETERBOROUGH - Stratford Canadian Tire Major Bantams made it to the semi-finals of the Kawartha Lakes tournament over the weekend.
Warriors won their opening game 3-0 against Georgina, with Danny Pacheco recording the shutout for the Tiremen.
Jacob McPhee scored twice, with Brayden Carnegie adding one goal and also assisted on McPhee’s winning tally. Pacheco picked up Player of the Game honours.
In their second game, Warriors dropped a 2-0 decision to Toronto’s Humber Valley. Stratford netminder Jeremy Hill was selected Player of the Game after facing 41 shots.
In game three, the Tiremen played to a 2-2 tie against Toronto East Enders.
McPhee tallied twice for Stratford, with Parker Gibbings contributing an assist on the tying goal. McPhee collected the Player of the Game award for the Tribe.
In game four, the Major Bantams went up against host Peterborough and a hard, end-to-end game resulted in one goal being scored.
Dean Jackson scored early in the second period and the defensive efforts shown at the blue line held the Petes off the scoreboard.
Jackson was selected as Player of the Game.
Warriors faced off against London Jr. Knights (white) Sunday morning in the semi-final and lost 4-1 to the Knights.
Max Hall scored the lone marker for Stratford. Sam Wyatt was chosen Warriors’ Player of the Game.
