High-scoring opener for Major Bantams

The Canadian Tire Major Bantams opened their 2014-15 regular season Monday night at the Allman Arena.

Warriors’ opener was against London Jr. Knights and resulted in a high-scoring 8-8 tie.

Warriors held a 3-0 lead early in the first period before London got on the board, with the period ending in a 4-4 tie.

Jr. Knights added to their tally, taking a commanding 7-4 lead in the third, but Stratford fought hard in the period to equalize.

Max Hall and Jacob McPhee each scored twice for the Tiremen, with singles going to Brett Stelmachuck, Andrew Maguire, Liam Taylor and Sam Turner.

Brayden Carnegie contributed two assists, with Aaron Skinner, Dean Simons, Hayden Shantz adding one assist each.

Warriors were outshot 43-31 by the Knights.

The Major Bantams are entered in the Kawartha Lakes tournament this weekend, Sept. 19-21.
