Kuepfer leads U-15s back into first place

Stratford Gazette

WATERLOO - Swanson’s Jewellers U-15 Striker girls are back in first place in the Southwest U-15 L5 division after a convincing 7-0 win over Waterloo United at the U of Waterloo Warriors field here Wednesday night.

Strikers’ forward Erin Kuepfer scored three times, increasing her season total to 27, placing her well in front in the race for the league scoring title.

Call-up Olivia Giovinazzo scored twice for the U-15s, heading in a corner kick from defender Julia Blowes, and then again on another corner from Kuepfer.

Leah Matthews and Nicole McIntosh rounded out the scoring, each with singles, while Natalie Dale, Elizabeth Aarts and Kuepfer all contributed assists.

U-13 goaltender Emily Rich, playing up for the Swanson’s squad, earned the shutout.

Stratford now has a one point lead on second-place Woolwich Wild, with the Wild having one game in hand.

Swanson’s Strikers will try to defend their tentative hold on top spot Wednesday at Packham as they face Kitchener.
