Schmidt leads Minor Atoms’ series-ending win

Stratford Gazette

Call-up Jonas Schmidt fired a hat trick for the Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Warriors as they beat out the Burlington Bulldogs 7-1 Thursday night at Dufferin Arena to advance to the single ‘A’ Bristol championship.

Warriors broke open a close game with three unanswered second-period goal to build a commanding 4-0 lead.

Nole Musselman scored first from a nice pass out front by Jacob Hall, who also scored two goals in the game.

Cole Lewis added one goal, with other assists going to Sam Bolger, Musselman, Aubrey Carter, Peter McIntosh and Chadd Langlands.

Isaac Deline and Danny Scott played an outstanding game on defence. Hudson Flood and Zach McCann played a gritty game on the forecheck and penalty-kills.

Owen Davey seemed unbeatable in net, losing his shutout bid with just 1:45 left to play.

The Minor Atom Rep Warriors now face the North London Nationals who also had a sweep against the London Bandits.
