Major Mosquitos move up to third with two wins

Stratford Gazette

Stratford Ideal Supply Major Mosquito Indians won two games last week to move into third place in the standings.

On Tuesday evening at home, Indians defeated Listowel by a score of 15-9 on the strength of a last-inning, nine-run rally.

Stratford trailed 7-2 after two innings, but

steady pitching by Keegan McArthur and Jordan Sinclair held Listowel to two runs the rest of the way.

At the plate, Garrett Culliton, Ethan Zehr, Braeden White and Carson Knott all had a double and single, and Andrew Barber walked twice and scored two runs.

Play of the game was made by shortstop Carson Knott, who dove to his left to make a catch on a sinking line drive.

On Wednesday night, the Major Mosquito Indians travelled to Guelph to play the second-place Royals and came out on top, 10-9.

Jared Lesouder pitched four strong innings for Stratford, striking out six, while giving up only two earned runs. Knott came in relief to pitch the final three innings and struck out five Guelph batters--including the final out of the game with the tying run at third base.

Offensively for the Indians, Tyler Gould cracked two doubles, McArthur two singles and Zehr contributed a two-run triple.
