A St. Marys rink won the Open Fours Spring Classic tournament on Saturday, sponsored by Scotiabank, Action Health Care and Coldwell Banker.
The entry of Wes Hague (Woodstock), Martin Foxall (Cobourg), Jurgen Fessler (London) and Larry McLellan (St. Marys) defeated Burlington 15-7, Milton 14-7 and Chesley 22-6 in the final.
Final results in ‘A’ Flight were: First - Larry McLellan, St. Marys, three wins, plus 50; second - Scott Fisher, London, three wins, plus 42.
In ‘B’ Flight, Greg Wilson, of Burlington, was first with two wins, plus 43; while Dave Anderson, of Milton, was second with two wins, plus 39.
In ‘C’ Flight, Wayne Wright, of Thamesford, was first with one win, plus 33.
Other teams that played were from Woodstock, Clinton, Norwich and Hanover.
Next local lawn bowling tournament is Wedneday, May 29, a Men’s Pairs event, sponsored by Boreham and Campbell.
Three in a row
On May 4 in Niagara Falls, the St. Marys team of Chris Johnson, Larry McLellan and James McLellan defeated Niagara Falls 11-7, Burlington 22-11 and Milton 15-14 to win the Scotiabank Triples tournament for the third straight year.
This tournament has been held for over 50 years, and this is the first time the same team has won three in a row.
