The Festival City Twirlers kicked off their season competing individually at two recent contests.
At the Star Twirl event in Hamilton on March 2, Cassie Droog, 14, placed first in beginner military, beginner x-strut and fifth in intermediate solo. Her sister Allison, 8, won beginner solo and novice x-strut.
Kaitlyn Buxton, 16, finished first in intermediate strut, intermediate 2-baton and second in intermediate solo. Sierra Sauve, 13, first in beginner x-strut and seventh in beginner solo.
Kaitlyn Satchell, 12, finished fourth in novice x-strut and sixth in beginner solo. Her sister Kimberly, 9, finished second in novice 2-baton, fourth in novice solo, and fifth in beginner basic.
At a competition in New York on Feb. 23, Cassandra Droog was first in military and x-strut, second in solo, and third in modeling. Allison was first in military, x-strut, visitor x-strut and solo.
Buxton placed first in best appearing, solo, 2-baton, modeling, rhythmic twirl and second in x-strut. Sauve was first in Miss Can-Am and rhythmic twirl, second in x-strut, third in modeling and fourth in solo.
Kaitlyn Satchell was first in visitor strut and visitor solo, and third in solo and x-strut. Kimberly was first in 2-baton and visitor solo, and second in solo and novice basic march.
The club’s next competition is the Shamrock Twirl event in Hamilton, March 23-24.
