Forward Sam Turner fired four goals to power the Stratford Best Western Peewee MD team to a 5-3 victory over North London Nationals Wednesday night at the Rotary Complex.
Turner’s scoring exploits helped Warriors gain a 4-2 lead by the end of the second period. Nathan Cook added a powerplay goal early in the third. Goalie Jared James played well for Stratford, making key saves in the third to keep his team in front.
Cherrey Bantams tie 4-4
Stratford Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantams tied North London Nationals 4-4 Tuesday night.
Nathan Hall led Warriors with one goal and one assist. Joe Yundt, Dean Jackson and Dalton Smith had the other singles. Dillon Weinheimer, Evan Moorehead, Hunter James and Max Hall all contributed assists. Call-ups Jackson and Max Hall had strong games for Stratford.
Minor Bantams lose 5-2
Stratford’s SCI Contractors Minor Bantam MDs were dealt a 5-2 loss Tuesday night at the hands of North London Nationals.
Nationals got out in front with two quick goals in the first three minutes of the game. Warriors battled back and evened the score at 2-2 by the end of the first period. Connor Franke connected after passes from Mark Van Dam and Owen Brooks, and Chris Phillips scored Stratford’s second goal with assists going to Carson Dunseith and Garrett Wells. Both goals were scored in the final 90 seconds of the frame.
The remainder of the game was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams, but Warriors fell victim to some questionable calls and London capitalized and scored three quick unanswered goals for the margin of victory.
