U-10 BMO Strikers roar back to beat Orangeville 3-1

Stratford Gazette

Stratford BU-10 BMO Strikers captured the Southwest Regional Soccer League Cup championship Saturday morning with a 3-1 win over Orangeville at Packham Road.

After an unintentional hand ball resulted in a successful penalty-shot goal for Orangeville in the first minute of play, Chris Gaylor’s Strikers eventually took control of the game.

Cohen Lesouder converted a great passing play from Jared Lesouder and Noah Rusen-Steele to tie the score at 1-1 before the end of the opening half.

In the second half, it was all Strikers. Zac McCann scored on a great play, set up by Tate Gaylor and Connor Caslick, and the goal would stand up as the winner.

McCann put the game away with his second goal of the match, finishing off a great passing play from Tyler Hotson and Aly McLeod.

Outstanding goalkeeping from Kayden Schooley, and solid play from defenders Alexander Barel, Alex Cassone, Mitchell Lafay and Caslick limited Orangeville’s offensive chances.
