Huskies split twinbill

Stratford Gazette

Stratford Northwestern Huskies Sr. boys basketball team hosted a doubleheader exhibition against Delhi and Grand River last week.

Despite a short bench of only seven players (with one starter absent), Huskies demonstrated a renewed intensity in defeating Delhi 36-35.

Aaron Graver led all scorers with 14 points, while Matt Leasa added six. Kyle Parks played a great defensive game for Northwestern.

In NW’s second game against Grand River Collegiate Institute, the Sr. Huskies fought fourth-quarter fatigue, losing 61-49.

Huskies started strong, leading 14-13 after one quarter, were up 30-24 at the half, and were tied 42-42 to start the fourth quarter. Northwestern’s Matt Leasa led all scorers with 15 points, Kyle Parks contributed nine and Cam Watt seven.
