The Huron Perth Laker PeeWees lost another close one last Thursday night, this time 4-2 to the Brantford 99ers.
Despite carrying the play to the 99ers for the majority of the first period, the frame ended scoreless. Brantford opened the scoring early in the second period after the Lakers gave them too much room in the defensive zone. The team came back less than a minute later, however, when Greg Williams finished off a pretty passing play with line-mates Cole Ciccone and Matthew McCracken. Brantford then took the lead off a powerplay goal and ended the period up 3-1.
The third period was evenly matched with both teams having chances to score. Brantford went up 4-1 early in the period off some scrambly play in the Lakers' end. McCracken, on a great solo effort with the HPL's short-handed, brought the team to within two, which was as close as they would get.
The team were hoping for more consistency throughout the entire game when they played host to the Lambton Junior Sting on Saturday in Zurich.
