Impressive win over Guelph by Tier II Major Mosquitos

Stratford Gazette

The Roth Law Firm Tier II Major Mosquito Indians hosted Guelph on Thursday, July 31 at Dufferin Park.

In perhaps one of the team’s most impressive efforts of the season, Indians drubbed the visitors 17-3.

Wyatt Murray established Stratford’s dominance on the base paths early when he battled for a lead-off walk in the bottom of the first inning.

Backed by a masterful complete game by starting pitcher Matthew Trachsel, Indians scored early in the contest and never looked back after pushing 11 runs across the plate in the fourth inning.

Sam Thomas, Sam Gerber, Spencer Eidt and Ryan Thomas had key plate appearances to keep Stratford rallies alive.

Indians matched their patience at the plate with clutch hitting from Jackson Nickel, Owen Akey and Owen Shantz.

Maddox Keller, Tallyn Soper, Michael Pauli and Jacob Roth supported the home team on defence with two double plays and a pick-off, which prevented Guelph from establishing any momentum.
