Stop Bill C-13

Stratford Gazette

If we don’t stop this reckless plan now it will undermine our privacy and could cost taxpayers millions in court challenges.

There’s no doubt senators are feeling the pressure to side with Canadians and do the right thing.  The Supreme Court of Canada has already ruled that large parts of C-13 are unconstitutional. If passed, the bill will face legal challenges and waste millions of taxpayer dollars.

This bill would allow authorities to monitor the private lives of law abiding and innocent Canadians, without any real oversight.  Telecomm providers will have legal immunity to hand over our private information to the government without a warrant nor oversight.

People harmed would not have the right to sue.  These victims of privacy breaches wouldn’t even be informed.

Gary Schellenberger, as our local MP, please think very hard about this one. Bill C-13 effectively encourages unconstitutional behaviour.

Do the right thing.
