Re: A matter of accountability, editorial, May 30
Good editorial except for one fact. You state, “Voters hold the high card. The people we choose to make decisions and spend our tax dollars on our behalf answer to us.”
Correct, except we don’t get to choose the senate. It’s a big payback each party uses for past favours and support.
When 105 people are chosen to work 88 days a year and receive approximately $397,000 a year in annual salary, benefits and allowances, and then steal from the taxpayer, it’s time for a big shakeup.
The people of the country may not always make the right voting decisions about which person would make the best decisions for the country, but they sure could do a better job than what we have right now with the favours senate.
Plus, just like the private sector, they not only are fired but can do time in jail where they can think about their “accountability.”
