Firefighters went well beyond the job

Stratford Gazette

On Nov. 9, I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Lorne Avenue.

The first people on the scene were a gentleman and a lady who came to my car to check on me and stayed with me until emergency services arrived. I cannot thank these citizens enough. It gives you faith in human nature.

The very next on the scene was the Stratford Fire Department, who arrived well before the ambulance. The firefighters were so amazing at taking care of me as I needed to be extricated from my car.

Due to their professionalism and kindness, they kept the situation under control and kept me so calm that I never had a moment of fear.

Their actions went well beyond their job. It is easy to see that this is a profession with them and not just a job. I am so grateful for their presence on the scene and will never be able to thank them enough for their assistance.

The paramedics and police officers were also a reassuring presence and once again, showed their professionalism and compassion.

We are so lucky to have these highly dedicated people in our city and I will be eternally grateful for them. Thank you all so much.
