Over the last month I asked our member of parliament (Gary Schellenberger) how much the government was spending on advertising its Economic Action Plan.
I was told by return mail March 19 that “it is important that the public understand the activities being undertaken by government.”
Rather than receiving a dollar figure as requested, I was directed to a website which after some considerable navigation I was able to find out that our government spent $16 million advertising the plan in the last quarter. That expenditure was 25 per cent of the advertising budget for that quarter.
At a time when cuts are being made in critical areas like environmental protection, I find this information most disturbing.
