The end of a love affair

St. Marys Journal Argus

Dear EditorJamie Hahn's love affair with the Town Worth Living In came to a close after 29 years. But what a love affair it has been!!Jamie never missed an opportunity to promote St. Marys. CBC radio often called for an interview. And I am sure the London Free Press had Jamie's number on speed dial. He reminded people we were home to St. Marys Cement, St. Marys Lincolns, and Arthur Meighen. The press knew him as Mister Zero because of his determination to avoid tax increases. Yes we owe Jamie a lot. But wait - could all of this been possible without the blessing and encouragement of Jamie's partner, Joan? There were a lot of demands made of Jamie for his attendance and participation including hundreds of committee meetings. Joan must have tired of the irate phone calls - driveways snowed in by the plow - sidewalks not sanded. So Joan you get accolades for your efforts in Jamie's accomplishments. And now I am left to wonder - with the Hahn Family relegated to obscurity - Who will become the next target of the poison pen?Something to think about. An appreciative taxpayerJ. B. Tudor
