Thanks from Salvation Army

St. Marys Journal Argus

Dear Editor,It's hard to believe that we were packing Christmas hampers two months ago. As we have been reviewing the Christmas season with its joys and challenges, we have once again been astounded by the generosity of the residents and businesses of the communities we support. This year we gave out 147 hampers with food, toys, clothing and tons of stocking stuffers, bringing hope to hundreds of children and adults. The sheer magnitude of the task was only dwarfed by the incredible generosity that made it all possible. Our donations were up this year, covering much of last year's shortfall, and refilling the shelves and freezers at the food bank. Among the donors many of whose names we are not free to share, we do want to draw special attention to the following businesses, churches, schools, and other organizations without whose help Christmas would have been rather bleak for so many: A.J. Baker School, Army/Navy/Airforce, Arthur Meighen School, Brown's United Church, Canadian Tire, Central School, Children of Brown's Bible School, Children of United Thorndale Church, Curves for Women, Desjardins Credit Union, Diane's Restaurant, Downtown Pontiac, East Nissouri Union Church, Girl Guides, Grace Community Church, Hendrickson's Stratford, Holy Name of Mary School, Hutton Transport, Kinettes, Kingsway Lodge, Kinsmen, Kirkton Vet Clinic, Kirkton/Woodham United Churches, Lakeside Anglican Church, Lakeside Masonic Lodge, Lakeside Women's Institute, Lions, Living Rock Church, Maple Leaf Foods, McDonald's Independent Grocer, Norampac, North Nissouri United Church, Mark Oliver at Adanac Images, Partners Paint and Paper, Path Finders, Plover Mills School, Presbyterian Church, Pyramid Centre, Rebekahs, Richardson Foods, Rob Stuart and The Usual Suspects, ROMEO Breakfast Club, Rotary Club of St. Marys, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, RVS Draperies, Scotiabank, Shur-gain, Solis Foods, South Perth Centennial School, St. James Anglican Church, St. Marys Baha'i Community, St. Marys BMO, St. Marys Cement Company, St. Marys Daycare Centre, St. Marys DCVI, St. Marys Horticultural Society, St. Marys Library, St. Marys McConnell Club, St. Marys RBC, St. Marys Town Hall, St. Marys United Church Ladies Group, St. Marys Vet Purchasing, Stonetown Quilt Guild, Sunset Diner, TD Canada Trust, The Book Vault, Thames Valley Seniors Knitting Group, Thorndale BMO, Thorndale Lions, Thorndale Optimists, Thorndale Seniors, Thorndale United Church, Thorndale Vacation Bible School, Tim Hortons, Uniondale Firemen's Club, and Wildwood Care Centre. There may be others whose names for whatever reason have been excluded.
