The truth does hurt, but how else do we learn?

Stratford Gazette

In your Aug. 22 issue you published the complaints of a parent about an anti-abortion group carrying the posters called "Show the Truth" which depicted the outcome of an unborn baby's life terminated by an abortionist and the wishes of the mother. I, for one, will admit the photos are not pleasant; that is why they are called "Show the Truth." It is shocking. How else will one learn? The expectant mother's decision is being carried out by an anxious abortionist who consoles the mother, who is under sedation, by telling her it is only a blob, it isn't a baby. People should think more in numbers - more unborn babies have been aborted in Canada than military loss of lives in all wars we've fought. When are our citizens going to wake up? Abortionist Henry Morgentaler given the highest award - Order of Canada? To those who have family or friends working in the medical field, especially, the nursery, they will give their testimony loud and clear; some abortions are being done in the late stages of pregnancy. Horrific? Yes.For those who have trouble accepting the truth, let me explain: The unborn baby is not the patient here. This helpless, innocent baby was identified by an American abortionist, Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who was about to do an abortion, saw the image of the body, and refused to do an abortion. He has left his career as a medical doctor. since then. The unborn baby is not given an anesthetic, or medication to relieve the pain or trauma, before being dismembered - its body cut, its limbs torn apart - by a callous, full-grown man. Another man, the one who helped conceive that unborn baby, obviously couldn't care less.Stop and think! That is why Show the Truth is out on the streets. It takes courage! Had I been aware they were in this area, I would have joined them. I did once before.Yes, it is upsetting. We Canadians, our tax dollars, are paying for abortions. Are they listed under health care? Each one of us is responsible. What are we doing about it?In this city we have the movie available, The Silent Scream, the work of U.S. Dr. Bernard Nathanson, former abortionist who changed his profession.Going back some years, I chartered buses for pro-lifers to Parliament Hill, Ottawa, also at times Queen's Park, Toronto, and elsewhere. Parents with small children, some pre-school, react to their parents' attitude towards this issue. Letting it go till children are older is not a good idea.As years go by, people want a marshmallow world. Facing reality is not always their choice. Those who say pro-lifers want to return to back alleys and dirty secrets should be ashamed. Here again, concern for the mother, not the baby. It's a "me" world - kill the evidence. Females have to study their own cycles to protect their child. It seems no one wants responsibility, eh? Show the Truth. It is the voice of the unborn babe.Mrs. Carmen WatersStratford
