Cyclones drop Game 1 to Dutchmen

KITCHENER – A two-goal performance from Jordan Delaurier helped propel the Kitchener Dutchmen to a 4-1 victory over the Listowel Cyclones in Game 1 of their Midwestern Conference playoff quarter-final on Feb. 25.

Adam Kawalec had a goal and two assists and Alex Demrovsky also scored for Kitchener, who have dispatched Listowel from the first round of the playoffs the last two seasons. Goaltender Jackson McIntosh made 19 saves for the win.

Jamie Huber scored the lone goal for the Cyclones, with assists going to Brad Yowart and Keaton Willis. Listowel’s power play was unable to score on seven opportunities, while the Dutchmen went 1-3 with the man advantage and added a shorthanded marker.

Tyler Fassl stopped 32 of 36 shots in defeat.

The Cyclones look to knot up the series in Game 2 this Friday, Feb. 27 at Listowel Memorial Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
