KINGSTON – Roland McKeown is now a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Los Angeles Kings dealt the 19-year-old Listowel blueliner to Carolina on Feb. 25 along with a 2015 conditional first-round draft pick for puck-moving defenceman Andrej Sekera. The 28-year-old Sekera was considered one of the top rearguards available on the market leading up to the March 2 NHL trade deadline.

A second round (50th overall) selection of the Kings in 2014, the 6’1”, 195-pound McKeown has put up five goals and 26 points for the Ontario Hockey League’s Kingston Frontenacs this season. McKeown is in his third year with the Fronts, was named captain in 2014-15 and has totaled 98 points in 178 regular season games with the club.
