LISTOWEL – The first baby of 2015 at Listowel Memorial Hospital was welcomed with a storm of icy weather over the weekend.
Aubree Marie Hedderson was born on Saturday, Jan. 3, to parents Danielle McLean and Danny Hedderson of Listowel. Danielle said she went into the hospital with contractions on Friday night, delivering Aubree following an emergency C-section, which she said was a departure from the otherwise smooth pregnancy.
“It was hard, but it was worth it in the end of course,” Danielle said.
The timing of Aubree’s arrival caused a little worry for Danielle, as she feared the approaching storm might make the trip a little hazardous.
“I heard it was supposed to storm all weekend,” Danielle said. “She brought on the storm,” Danny adds.
According to the new parents, Aubree had them guessing until the very end on when she would make her arrival.
“I thought she was going to be a Christmas baby, I thought she was going to be early,” Danielle said. “We were hoping for the new year,” Danny said.
Weighing 7 pounds, 11 oz. Aubree has a great-great grandmother and a great-grandmother ready to shower her with attention, adding a fifth generation to the family. Those extra sets of hands will certainly come in handy as Danielle rests and recovers in hospital.
“When she’s crying in the bassinet and I can’t really get up to get her, it’s a little frustrating,” she said. “I’m the designated burper,” Danny said.
