KINGSTON – Listowel’s Roland McKeown has been named the captain of the Kingston Frontenacs.
The Ontario Hockey League club made the announcement on Friday, filling a vacancy left by Michael Moffat. Through 14 games this season, McKeown has seven assists, 12 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating.
Kingston is third in the East Division with a 7-6-1 record.
The 6’1”, 195-pound defenceman was named an alternate captain by the club earlier this season. McKeown, 18, was selected in the second round (50th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
McKeown has won gold at both the IIHF World U18 Hockey Championship and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial U18 Tournament. He has also been selected to represent Team OHL at the upcoming Subway Super Series versus Russia’s National Junior Team.
