LDSS takes eighth at regional skating competition

SPECIAL TO BANNER SPORTS AYLMER – LDSS Lightning On Ice competed in the 11th annual Western Ontario High School Figure Skating Invitational competition, held in Aylmer on March 4. Forty-three schools entered the competition with 233 skaters. There were 11 more schools than last year and 40 more skaters, raising the level of competition higher. The defending 2014 champions, Lightning On ice finished the 2015 competition in eighth place. The team had a respectable finish considering the level of competition and the fact that they competed against high level skaters who skate four or five times a week. Top five individual results (team points are awarded to the top five skaters in each category) Felix Weber – first and third place finishes Laura Dick – second place finish Jolene Koch – third place finish Sarah Schultz – fourth place finish Jane Smith – fifth place finish
