LISTOWEL – Local baseball fans rejoice, because all of the action you can handle in one day is coming this Saturday.

The Listowel Minor Baseball Association (LMBA) is presenting the first ever Baseball Day on June 14. Spread across the Jackson, Optimist and John Bell (north and south) diamonds, every LMBA team will be playing from 9 a.m. until the last game gets underway at 5:30 p.m.

“Listowel has a rich tradition in baseball, having captured several All-Ontario championships over the past few years,” said LMBA president Matt MacLeod. “With our registration continually growing we are optimistic that this tradition will continue for many years.”

The day will also give players and fans alike the opportunity to test their skills in the radar gun, ball toss and timed base running modules.

A silent auction, 50-50 draw and barbecue will also be featured in Memorial Park.

“We hope that the day proves to be successful and that we can make this an annual event,” said MacLeod. “The LMBA executive encourages the citizens of North Perth to make a trip to the diamonds on June 14 and watch some exciting baseball and support our youth.”
