Culliton earns industry award for innovation

Stratford Gazette

A Stratford-based contractor has earned industry praise for delivering quality and value on several high profile construction projects including the Grand River Hospital redevelopment in Kitchener and the new Niagara Outlet Collection shopping centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Culliton was recently named the 2013 SIMpull Solutions Contractor of the Year for Ontario and Eastern Canada by Southwire Canada, a leading wire and cable manufacturer whose Canadian headquarters are in Mississauga. Southwire is the maker of SIMpull Solutions, a line of products that are designed to make wire installations easier, safer and more effective than traditional methods.

Presenting the award on Feb. 21, Southwire president, Axel Schlumberger, noted, "We wanted to recognize a contractor that has not only embraced SIMpull Solutions but one that really incorporates innovation in everything they do; and never stops looking to evolve their processes that will make them more successful."

Now in its 82nd year, Culliton is a mechanical, electrical and HVAC contractor performing construction projects of all sizes. Its completed projects cover a wide range of industries, including health care, education, government, commercial and industrial buildings as well as condominium high-rises.

“We are always looking for ways to improve,” said company president Tim Culliton. “We have a culture gripped by pride to deliver quality and value to our customer.”

Schlumberger said Culliton has been a strong partner with Southwire, providing feedback on new products and sometimes even customizing products to meet the company's needs.

“It’s that constant drive to be better, that willingness to take a risk on something new that sets them apart and makes them such a great successful, Canadian business.”
