Four contestants vie for Paddyfest ambassador

The 37th annual Paddyfest celebrations get underway this weekend, with the Paddyfest ambassador competition on Saturday.

Jenna Bitton

Jenna is the 17-year-old daughter of Greg and Cathy Bitton of Listowel. Jenna is working through her Grade 12 year at Listowel District Secondary School. She is being sponsored by Shoppers Drug Mart. In her spare time, Jenna enjoys badminton, basketball, acting, photography, baseball and volunteering. Jenna also figure skates several times a week with the Listowel Skating Club. Jenna’s future plans include heading to college and getting a degree in photography. She also hopes to be successful in life by reaching goals that she sets out for herself along the way.

Sam Dobson

Sam is 16 years old and is currently attending Grade 11 at Listowel District Secondary School. Her parents are Darcy and Cheryl Dobson of Listowel. Her sponsor for this year’s competition is Giant Tiger. Sam enjoys being artistic (painting, drawing), doing yoga, drinking tea and playing with her four dogs. Her future plans include heading to Western University in London for social work.

Adrienne Ellis

Adrienne is 17 years old and is the daughter of Peter and Melissa Ellis of Listowel and she is being sponsored by Tim Hortons.

Adrienne is a Grade 12 student at Listowel District Secondary School. Adrienne enjoys learning French, participating in track events and lacrosse. She also spends time acting as a part of Black Door Theatre at LDSS. Adrienne’s future plans include finishing high school and heading into post-secondary school to become a high school French and drama teacher.

Victoria Gouveia

Victoria is 16 years old and is currently attending Listowel District Secondary School. Her parents are Tony and Paula Gouveia. She lives just outside of Kenilworth. Pizza Delight is sponsoring Victoria. Victoria finds enjoyment in many areas of her life. Some of her favourite pastimes include singing, dancing, acting, photography, shopping and being with friends. Victoria’s future plans include being on Broadway, as an actress and singer, and she also wants to travel all over the world to explore different cultures and places.

The ambassador competition will take place on Saturday, March 1, at the Listowel Evangelical Missionary church located at 1205 Tremains Ave. S. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 1 p.m. The cost for admission is $6 for adults, $5 for students and $4 for children. This event is sponsored by the Listowel Kinette Club.

The Kinette Club of Listowel would like to thank all the contestants’ sponsors, and the sponsors for the event this year. The Kinettes also recognize all the businesses in town who have donated merchandise or monetary funds to help make the competition a success.

Special thanks goes to Ashley Martin for her makeup for headshots and to Nicole Kaufman from Kaufman Klicks Photography for taking this year’s headshots. The Kinsmen Club of Listowel are also thanked for their donation of a $1,000 scholarship that will be given to the 2014 Paddyfest Ambassador.

The contestants have already been out volunteering and having a great time in the community, and are looking forward to seeing North Perth support them as they compete to be this year’s Paddyfest Ambassador.
