A little comfort and plenty of joy

Stratford Gazette

Recording artist Pamela Jane Gerrand was entertaining at the Local Community Food Centre on Saturday as part of its Comfort and Joy Christmas Concert.

Gerrand says the concert provides her an opportunity to merge two loves, "Christmas music...and this centre!"

Half of the proceeds from the event, which included a silent auction, went towards the Food Centre and its many programs. The other half will help Gerrand record a new song written for The Hunger Project Canada, a national organization that seeks to end world poverty.

Gerrand was accompanied on keyboard and vocals by Kelly Walker. The two encouraged the gathered audience to sing along to a number of popular Christmas and winter-themed songs. A group of young people sitting up front kept time with jingle bells.

The concert also featured a live reading of A Visit from St. Nicholas (Twas the Night Before Christmas) by Stratford artist and author Teddy Payne.
