LISTOWEL – Another substantial donation is being celebrated by the North Perth Recreational Complex Committee, with a $250,000 donation from Ideal Supply.
Tim MacDonald, Ideal Supply president, said the donation was an easy decision, based on the need for new recreational facilities in the community.
“We believe that having strong community assets is important for North Perth to be a community where people will want to stay in, and newcomers would want to move to,” MacDonald said.
MacDonald said new recreational facilities have been a common trend in local communities, and they serve to attract new residents and businesses.
“It seems that communities throughout southwestern Ontario have made investments into improving their recreational facilities for their citizens, and made these investments to attract new industry and basically build stronger communities, and North Perth needs to keep up with that,” he said.
The additional of a new recreation complex to North Perth would also serve as a step towards economic development, MacDonald added.
“Building strong recreational facilities for the people of North Perth is a strong step to enhancing it as a great place to live and do business,” he said.
The campaign for the Steven Kerr Memorial Complex stands at $3.8 million committed, with the hopes of reaching the $5 million mark early in the new year.
