MONKTON – The Monkton Senior ‘AA’ Wildcats couldn’t catch a break over the weekend.
Monkton (1-5-2) was shut down 4-1 by the Squires in Petrolia on Friday and then clipped 6-5 by the Goderich Pirates in a shootout on Saturday at home.
At Petrolia, Scott McPhail led the Squires with a goal and an assist and Bradon Campbell made 32 saves for the win. Dan Raycraft had the lone marker for the Wildcats, while goaltender Jason Hamilton kept the bleeding to a minimum with an exceptional 49-save performance. Mike Pleon and Pat Looby assisted on Raycraft’s team-leading fourth goal of the season.
As of press time, scoring statistics for Monkton’s Saturday game are not available.
The Wildcats depart on a three-game road trip starting this Friday in Goderich for a rematch against the Pirates. Monkton next returns home on Sunday, Dec. 1 in a game at Listowel Memorial Arena versus the Tillsonburg Thunder. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
