Paramedics reach new collective agreement

Stratford Gazette

The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4514, which represents approximately 90 Perth County paramedics, has reached a new three-year collective agreement with the County of Perth that runs until Dec. 31, 2015.

Terms of the deal were announced Thursday, and include annual salary increases of 1.5 per cent as well as minor changes to benefits coverage to assist in the mitigation of health risks associated with emergency response provided by paramedics.

"This agreement reflects the commitment that both the county and the union place on the services that they provide to the community," stated a press release issued by the county.

Other details about the deal include a reduction in the maternity/parental benefit top up to allow parents additional time at home with their child, and a small increase in shift premium pay.
