BANNER SPORTS

LISTOWEL – Former Listowel resident Bill McLaughlin loved sports, and in particular loved passing along his knowledge of sports to the youth of the community as a coach.

So it was without question that when friends and family organized the Bill McLaughlin Memorial Golf Tournament in his memory four years ago, the proceeds from that event would be directed towards the North Perth Sports for Kids Fund – a charity that assists local families in getting their children enrolled and equipped in minor sports. The annual donations from the tournament have helped the fund climb to over $60,000.

The fourth annual edition of the Bill McLaughlin tournament gets underway at the Listowel Golf Club on Saturday, Aug. 10 with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. The tourney is organized in a four-man scramble format, with $115 getting each player their round, a golf cart and dinner. Dinner only tickets can be purchased for $35 apiece.

Single players are welcome, and teams can have any combination of men and women. Dinner is served at 6 p.m., with an after party kicking off at 8 p.m.

To register in the fourth annual Bill McLaughlin Memorial Golf Tournament, call 519-291-4097, or email rjmackenzie@wightman.ca.
