Listowel Banner

On Saturday, June 29 around 3:20 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police officers were dispatched to a collision on Perth Road 131 near Line 59 south of Milverton.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers determined that a single motor vehicle had been travelling northbound on Perth Road 131. Approximately 150 metres north of Line 59 the driver lost control and the vehicle spun into the west ditch, where it rolled and landed upright, narrowly missing a tree.

Nine occupants were found to have been travelling in the Chevrolet Cavalier at the time of the crash.

Seven of the vehicle occupants were situated in the vehicle’s passenger compartment while two were located in the trunk. The two 15-year-old males in the truck had to be extricated by the Perth County Fire Department Milverton station.

The 18-year-old male driver, a Stratford resident, as well as the eight passengers ranging in ages from 15 to 18 years were all transported to local hospitals.  Two were transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital while seven were transported to Stratford General Hospital. Four of the teens have subsequently been transported to London Health Sciences Centre. All injured persons sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Perth Road 131 near the crash scene remained closed to traffic from the time of the collision until approximately 9:30 a.m. This allowed for the proper removal of the vehicle and vehicle debris, as well as the safe investigation by the OPP West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigators.

The Perth County OPP is continuing their investigation into this collision.  Road conditions were bare and dry at the time of the crash.

Anyone having witnessed this vehicle prior to the crash or who has other information about the crash is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.  Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
