“When we have to do homework at school, she makes it fun and challenging. She reads us our favourite stories. She can help us if somebody broke our toys; she can help us fix them. She loves us and we love her!”
Those were the words provided by Little Falls Public School Junior Kindergarten student Luke Richardson, when he decided earlier this year to submit the name of his teacher to a contest being run by the TVO Kids television network.
Richardson’s submission was chosen one of three grand prize winners, and earlier this week his Kindergarten class enjoyed a portion of the prize: a pizza party at the school.
Other prizes include a Kobo electronic reader for Stacey, and an iPod for Richardson.
Stacey laughs while she reads out her student’s “Best Teacher Ever” submission. “I’m not sure when we ever did homework at school!” she says.
But she has no quibble with the final lines of Richardson’s submission: that she loves her students.
“Of course he’s not a teacher’s pet. I love them all equally!”
Her biggest worry now? Living up to the title of Best Teacher Ever. After all, Richardson will be back in her combined JK/SK class next year.
“I’m going to have to up my game, I guess.”
