Stratford taxpayers paid $81,334 for the services of Mayor Dan Mathieson in 2012, according to the city’s remuneration and expense figures released last week.
That total includes $3,668 in mileage and $10,875 for other expenses.
In addition to his salary of $60,063, Mathieson received $6,728 in remuneration for meetings, including his involvement with Festival Hydro and the Police Services Board.
The second highest paid member of council was Tom Clifford, who earned $20,217. That included the standard councillor pay of $10,912 and remuneration of $5,460, as well as other expenses and mileage.
As deputy mayor, Frank Mark was paid an annual salary of $12,443. Accounting for expenses, mileage and remuneration, he received last year a total of $18,308.
Like the mayor, both Clifford and Mark were compensated for their involvement with Festival Hydro. So to was Coun. Kerry McManus, who earned a total of $18,326 in 2012.
Coun. George Brown, whose remuneration included $2,907 for his work on the Police Services Board, was paid a total of $15,133.
The lowest paid councillor last year was Martin Ritsma, who earned $10,913. He recorded no mileage or other expenses.
Other councillors’ pay included Brad Beatty ($15,323), Keith Culliton ($11,005), Bonnie Henderson ($14,256), Paul Nickel ($11,404) and Karen Smythe ($13,354).
