Off the Wall (OTW) Stratford Artists Alliance is well on its way to a productive 2013 thanks in part to a $16,000 investment from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
MPP Randy Pettapiece, MPP and Trillium representative Rena Spevack made the announcement Friday at “Macbeth: A Love Story,” a collaborative event held by OTW and Alternative Theatre Works.
The one-year grant will be used to hire a marketing coordinator and project coordinator to develop and provide supports for the new OTW season.
“This funding will assist OTW in increasing awareness and growing our participant base, in turn helping to ensure our long-term sustainability,” said OTW board chair Michele Boniface. “We are extremely grateful for the generous support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation and their commitment to the arts and culture in our community.”
Pettapiece said he was happy to pass along funding that helps carry on the rich cultural tradition in Stratford.
“I am very pleased that the (Trillium) Foundation has acknowledged (OTW’s) work, and that they will be able to promote and expand their contribution to our community.”
By further developing courses and workshops, OTW strives to be known as a leader in theatre production arts throughout Canada.
Its vision is to promote and support production art and artists, providing an opportunity for mentoring and ongoing education, enabling artists to pass on their experience, thus developing the next generation of theatre artists.
