To all Perth Councillors:
At the risk of being accused of “harassment,” I am writing this letter to each Perth South councillor. I would like answers to the following three questions:
1. The Mayor was “investigated” by police some months ago. He was also accused of not following proper procedure under the Municipal Elections Act. Why were his legal expenses paid by the Township, without a motion from Council being recorded in the minutes of any Council meeting?
2. What’s fair for the goose is fair for the gander. Why were the legal expenses of councillors Armstrong and Henderson in connection with “harassment” accusations NOT paid?
3. Is it true that CAO Tim Ivanyshyn and Public Works Director Larry McGregor are the two “senior staff” who wanted charges of “harassment” laid against councillors Armstrong and Henderson?
I would like these questions answered in public at the upcoming meeting of Council. If this is not acceptable, please contact me by other means.
Barnby Cade, R.R. 6 St. Marys
(Editor’s note: A copy of this letter was submitted to the Journal Argus. Also submitted was a response from Councillor Stuart Arkett, noting that information in the original letter was only revealed in “closed session” of Council.)
