New choir for women in Stratford

Stratford Gazette

An information session will be held next Thursday, Jan. 31 for women interested in joining a new community choir in Stratford.

The local chapter of Shout Sister! Choir is being spearheaded by Perth County composer and vocalist Jennifer Thorpe.

The choir was started by Juno nominee Georgette Fry 10 years ago and today has 16 chapters across Ontario.

“(Fry) has created a relaxed and positive atmosphere, combining it with a wide range of pop music,” states a press release.

It is hoped the choir will fill a need in the community for inexperienced singers who will find the experience of singing with a choir powerful and joyful.

“Experienced singers find the repertoire and relaxed atmosphere a welcome change,” the press release adds. “We welcome all women.”

Fry and choir manager Nancy Greig will join Thorpe at the information session, being held in the Falstaff Family Centre’s community room from 7-9 p.m.

Participants are asked to reserve their place by email at sisters@shoutsisterchoir.ca.
