Ruth Eleanor Burton (Noble), nee Smith, passed away rather unexpectedly, after a brief illness and hospitalization, in Olds, Alberta. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and friends who knew her.
In her 82 years, she lived a colourful life, starting out as a child in Listowel and eventually moving to Alberta with husband Ivan Noble and son Jim in 1953. Judi was born in 1955. Ruth and Ivan worked as hired help on ranches and farms in Alberta until 1984, when they were able to purchase and begin working their own farm west of Didsbury. They farmed until 1998, when Ivan was sadly lost to cancer.
Several years later, Ruth found happiness in a relationship and new marriage to Allan Burton of Sundre, Alberta. They had about 10 good years; Al’s dementia care requirements separated them.
Ruth had recently moved into Mount View Lodge in Olds, and was very happy there.
Ruth came from a very large family, of which there is now only her sister, Irene Felkar surviving, currently living in London, Ont. She is also survived by her son Jim (Monika), granddaughter Elainna, her daughter Judi (Pat), grandson Shayne, granddaughter Kim of Barrie, and second husband Allan.
Besides her siblings, Ruth is predeceased by her mother Minnie Ethel Smith, father James Smith of Listowel and first husband of 49 years, Ivan Noble.
A memorial service will be held at Cremona Congregational Church on Saturday, Jan 19 at 2 p.m. Private family interment of Ruth’s ashes in Cremona Cemetery prior to the memorial.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or any charity of one’s choice.
