Local automotive manufacturer Futaba International Ontario (FIO) is expected to hire 60 additional workers over the next two years to accommodate increased production.
The City of Stratford announced the news late Tuesday in a press release in which mayor Dan Mathieson applauded the company for helping build upon the city’s manufacturing industry and for its continued success and committment to Stratford.
“The continued growth of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Corp and their suppliers here are strong contributors to Stratford's economic growth,” he added.
The additional work at FIO includes production of the new RAV4, production of the new Corolla beginning in July 2013, an increase in production volume of the RX350 beginning in January 2014 and a new stamping plant that will be added and begin production in late 2014.
FIO, in preparation for the creation of the 60 new jobs, will be running application drives for the new positions. These will be held Dec. 13 and 18, with sessions running from 8-10 a.m. and from 4-6 p.m.
