Perth County fire ban lifted

Listowel Banner

The open-air fire ban that has been in effect for Perth County for several weeks has been lifted.

All outdoor fires must be in compliance with local bylaws.

Anyone unfamiliar with the requirements is asked to contact their local fire department.

The ban was initially enacted due to the dry, hot weather conditions. It included bonfires, campfires and fires in burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces and chimineas.

Farmers were also encouraged to exercise caution when combining, as field fires can quickly overtake equipment and neighbouring crops and spread quickly into woodlands.
