Golf fundraiser gives a hand up

Stratford Gazette

On Saturday, June 1, the John Mavity Golf Classic held its first annual memorial golf tournament at the Mitchell Golf & Country Club.

The weather was near perfect, and the course was in excellent condition.  All who attended were treated to a fun day of golf, some great laughs, prizes and superb food.

We would like to thank the Mitchell Golf & Country Club for hosting our tournament, the numerous volunteers, our very generous sponsors and donors, and of course, the 146 golfers. Your support contributed to making this a successful fundraiser event.

The tournament raised over $10,000 for the John Mavity Memorial Fund, benefiting under privileged children in hockey.

I would personally like to express my sincere appreciation to the committee members who volunteered their time and did an amazing job in putting this special event together in just two and a half months.
