The Sonics edged Big Time by nine points in a winner-take-all Game 3 to secure the Listowel Men's Basketball championship.After splitting the first two games in the best-of-three series, the Sonics grabbed more rebounds, created several turnovers and hit their shots to take an early 29-12 lead.Big Time trailed by as many as 20 before going on a late run to pull within eight, but the start proved to be too much to overcome in the 73-62 final on Thursday, June 3.Brothers Jeff and Joey Hollinger drained 22 points apiece in leading their team to victory."We won as a team," Jeff Hollinger said afterwards while holding the championship trophy. "No team MVP."Andy Seymour followed with 17 points, then Brad Robinson with seven, Nick Beggs with three and Mladen Stojcic with two.Big Time's Chris Meadows put up a game-high 23, with all but five coming in the second half as his group went on a charge.Chris Adams had nine, Jon Hollinger eight, Nick Brown seven, John Basler seven, Ryan Rumig six and Jon Sydney two."Champions are afraid to lose," Beggs stated.
