Maple Leaf WI celebrates 90 years

Ninety years of working for the motto “For Home and Country” was celebrated on Thursday, Aug. 25 at the Atwood Presbyterian Church by the Maple Leaf Women’s Institute.

It was celebrated on the exact date it was formed – Aug. 25 1919 – at the home of Mrs. Jim Hamilton.

The theme was quilts and a fine showing of quilts, throws and quilted jackets adorned the pews of the church and the narthex.

All WI members of Perth-Huron district were invited and approximately 60 attended. President Ruth Dewar presided with greetings extended from FWIO president Ruth Jones, Pauline Heilland from the area and Marg Greig from the district.
