Shooting suspect has case adjourned until new year

Stratford Gazette

Michael Schweitzer, the 23-year-old charged with first-degree and attempted murder for the shootings in Milverton Dec. 4, had his case adjourned until the new year when he appeared by video in Stratford’s Provincial Court Friday morning.

Police say the Milverton man fatally shot 17-year-old Nicole Wagler and turned a gun on Tyler Baker, 22, who was taken to hospital in London in critical condition. His condition is unknown.

Consultant Frances Brennan, who is expected to be retained in the case as a defence co-counsel, requested the adjournment so she can review “some initial disclosure” made by the crown.

Schweitzer will re-appear in Provincial Court Monday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. again by video to set a bail hearing date.
