Free events planned for Youth Appreciation Week

The Optimist Club of Stratford is celebrating Youth Appreciation Week that runs Nov 10-16.The club plans to work with the City of Stratford Community Services Department and the New Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stratford & District during several events that are planned for the week."These two groups are very important to the youth of our community and I, along with all of the members of the Optimist Club of Stratford, look forward to the partnerships that have been formed," said Optimist president Michael Gornyiczki, in a press release. The week's events include• Monday, Nov. 10 - free open volleyball at the Agriplex fieldhouse from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and a dinner and craft evening with Big Brothers Big Sisters;• Wednesday November 12 - free open basketball at the fieldhouse from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.;• Friday, Nov. 14 - a Teen Dance is being held at the Kiwanis Community Centre from 8-11 p.m."The Optimist Club of Stratford has supported local youth since 1937 and we look forward to continuing this tradition with outstanding community partners like Jeff Otten, child/youth services coordinator, City of Stratford Community Services Division, and Don Lawson, executive director, the New Big Brothers Big Sisters of Stratford & District," stated the press release.
