Food drive under way on Monday

The House of Blessing and The Salvation Army have partnered again this year to host the 2008 Thanksgiving Food Drive.  All residents of Stratford and area are asked to watch for a Brown Paper Bag indicating the beginning of the drive which will take place  from Sept. 29 to Oct. 14. The bag will indicate suggested items that are needed such as canned fruit and vegetables, canned pasta, canned meat (tuna & salmon) cereal, Kraft Dinner, dry pasta, canned tomatoes, pasta sauce, peanut butter, pork & beans, juice/juice boxes, and children's snack items as well as toiletries.Residents can drop off their donations at Food Basics, Stratford Foodland, Zehrs, Sobeys, Giant Tiger, and Festival Marketplace as well as the House of Blessing and The Salvation Army."With 8.4 per cent of the Stratford population accessing our food banks, your donation will help us to ensure that many adults and children in our community have an opportunity for healthy and nutritious meals over the winter months," states a press release.For more information call Theresa McMurray at the House of Blessing 519-273-3433 or Jeanette Smith at The Salvation Army 519-271-2763.
